MERCY
Mercy is the true account of a gruesome rape and murder that occurred one night in a coal mining town in rural Virginia back in 1980. Adapted from the book May God Have Mercy by John C. Tucker, the mysterious murder and eventual arrest and conviction of the alleged killer, Roger Coleman, became a landmark legal case that eventually gained international attention, resulting in pleas from Mother Teresa and the Pope himself. Coleman, the alleged killer and a coal miner from the mountains of Appalachia, soon found himself on death row, on Larry King, and on the cover of Time magazine, all while fighting for his innocence as the hunt for the "real" killer continued.
